DO YOUR PROJECTS...Stay on schedule? Are your deliverables on time?Have written epics/stories/tasks that are prioritized? Use an agile process to continually create deliverables and handle change? Provide clear channels of communication between teams and stakeholders? Use retrospectives to improve success and productivity? AGILE/SCRUM PRACTICES ARE KEYDuring the latter part of the 20th century, different project management methods evolved. The importance of project stakeholders (clients, executives, managers, cross-functional team members) working together on scope, requirements and business rules for the project grew. Spending time at the very beginning of a project saved organizations from costly product reworking during the latter stages of the project. Open communication has been one of the most essential components of success. During the past 15 years, Agile Software Project Management using Scrum Methodologies has come into practice. The framework and principles address weaknesses found in other project management models. The beauty of Agile/Scrum is that it is straightforward: it clearly defines roles and responsibilities; it demands open, honest communication; and it expects demonstrable, usable results/products at the end of each "development" cycle. Each part of the Scrum framework intersects in a meaningful way with other parts. This makes Scrum powerful and produces on-time and on-budget successes. Using all of the Scrum principles is important in getting new projects launched effectively and in getting current projects back on track. Is Scrum only for software development? No, it can be used for any type of product development. THREE SCRUM SERVICES OFFERED1. INTRODUCTION TO AGILE/SCRUM TRAINING
This course describes Agile/Scrum methodologies and how they support project success.
Although there is lecture and discussion throughout the training, the best learning is
done by participating in exercises that use all of our learning senses.
Project "management" is about providing a framework for
success. 2. ONGOING CONSULTINGFacilitation, after Training, will often continue through the initial sprints of your new project or the project you are getting back on track. The purpose is to ensure that the Scrum Roles, the Product Backlog, and rules/meetings, such as the Sprint Planning Meeting, are in place and working in real-time for your specific projects. 3. PART-TIME SCRUM MASTER TO GET YOU STARTEDWhat is a Scrum Master? It is a new role created for successful project management. This person is not a software developer nor a product owner/manager. - The Scrum Master speaks two languages: that of the stakeholder and that of product development. And makes sure that both are on the same page. - The Scrum Master encourages the product team to do their job in the best way possible. The Scrum Master protects the product team so they can self-organize, protects the product team from intrusions/additional requests, removes impediments the team faces, finds resources. - The Scrum Master works with the Product Owner to prioritize the functionality the stakeholders want included in the product. We strongly believe that the Scrum Master role not be assigned to someone on the Project Team such as the Development or QA manager/lead. They already have full-time jobs in their fields of expertise, and should be supported by the organization to do them. If they try to do other things as well, it can have a negative impact on your success. If you are just starting to use Scrum project management and are beginning with one project/product, you may not need a full-time Scrum Master yet. That will come as more projects use an Agile/Scrum framework. So what do you do about having a Scrum Master now? We can fill that need on a part-time basis and as you ramp up with additional projects/products, we will help you transition to whoever you hire to be your full-time Scrum Master. It is important to us at Solutions for Corporate Growth, Inc. that you and your projects are successful, productive and profitable - and that you have fun along the way!
